In a significant move to combat retail crime and anti-social behaviour, Exeter Business Against Crime (EBAC) has upgraded its software by launching the SentrySIS platform citywide. This initiative aims to strengthen crime prevention and management for EBAC members and key partners, such as Devon & Cornwall Police, Exeter City Council, Best Bar None, and InExeter.

State-of-the-Art Crime Prevention Technology

EBAC has partnered with SentrySIS, a leading crime prevention technology firm, to enhance the city's crime management system. This advanced platform provides EBAC and its members with cutting-edge tools to address the city’s evolving crime reduction strategy. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to making Exeter a safer and more secure place for businesses and residents.

Andrew Sharman, Crime Manager at EBAC, emphasised the importance of the launch: “This represents a significant step forward in our mission to make Exeter safer city. We cannot support our members and partners using the tools of yesteryear, we wouldn’t enter a F1 race in the family hatchback so we should not do the same when it comes to our crime reduction efforts. The SentrySIS system equips our members with the tools and data they need to respond quickly and effectively to both crime and anti-social behaviour. By improving communication and collaboration among all stakeholders, we are setting new standards for crime prevention. The increase in engagement since switching to SentrySIS is already demonstrating that this was the right move and that provides us with a lot of enthusiasm for our future work.”

Enhanced Communication and Real-Time Data Sharing

The SentrySIS platform brings together instant communication and data-sharing capabilities through a centralized database. It tracks incidents, offender profiles, vehicles, and regional crime intelligence. Retailers and partners can receive alerts, share and view CCTV footage, and monitor known or suspicious individuals at the touch of a button.

This intuitive system is accessible via any web browser and through an easy-to-use app available on Apple and Android devices. It features advanced data analytics, which allows users to analyse crime trends and respond in real time. This gives EBAC members vital information to help reduce crime swiftly and proactively.

Proactive Crime Management

SentrySIS is designed not just to react to crime but to anticipate and prevent it. By utilising the system’s data, EBAC members can refine their loss prevention measures and gain deeper insights into criminal activities in their area. This proactive approach strengthens the community’s ability to stay one step ahead of criminal behaviour.

Chris Nriapia, representing SentrySIS, shared his excitement about the partnership: “We are thrilled to collaborate with EBAC and support its members. SentrySIS empowers local businesses and communities with real-time insights that enhance safety and security. This partnership sets a new benchmark for crime prevention, and we are excited to contribute to Exeter’s future plans.”

Key Features of SentrySIS

SentrySIS offers a wide range of features to its users, including:

  • Real-time incident logging, providing users with up-to-date crime information, trends, and key alerts.
  • Playback, rewind and view CCTV video
  • Data sharing capabilities
  • Galleries showcasing known and unknown offenders active in the area.
  • Heat maps highlighting crime hotspots across the city.
  • Secure, GDPR-compliant system

Future Strategic Partnerships

EBAC and SentrySIS have already started to build the foundations for future joint ventures with other local organisations. These collaborations will further strengthen crime prevention efforts across Exeter, as SentrySIS supports EBAC’s long-term goals of addressing retail crime and anti-social behaviour.

The new system not only increases safety across Exeter's city centre but also streamlines communication and compliance among stakeholders. This initiative sets a new gold standard for managing retail crime across the South West and beyond.

A New Standard in Crime Prevention

The introduction of SentrySIS is not just a security upgrade; it represents a transformative step for EBAC. By fostering stronger partnerships and improving local crime prevention strategies, Exeter is poised to lead the way in creating safer business environments across the region.
