The Business Improvement District which promotes businesses in Fulham Broadway under the Discover Fulham brand, have this month rejuvenated their crime reduction strategy by adopting SentrySIS for all its levy payers and partners. The strategic move supports their aim to help reduce retail crime across the day and night-time economy in the area.

Fulham is one of the most connected residential areas in the capital with leafy green spaces, bars and restaurants – all within a very short commute away from the City and West End. The suburban ‘village-feel’ that Fulham creates is ideal for young professionals and families but can also attract would-be offenders who target the many trendy shopping streets, lively restaurants, bars, pubs and cafes.

The introduction of the SentrySIS system will work in conjunction with the already successful pub watch scheme to help target offending towards the nighttime economy, before being rolled out to the day time sector which is equally as vibrant.

Marketing & Communications Manager at Discover Fulham Joanna Breuer said “We have a wonderful business community which ranges from national chains to independents and market traders. They have all suffered at the hands of regular offending criminals, and want to work together to deter them from targeting our businesses and customers.

SentrySIS provides a platform for our business community to join forces in letting the criminals know they are being watched and will be caught in Fulham Broadway.”

In order to fulfil the requirements of the busy Fulham nighttime economy, Discover Fulham will focus on disseminating relevant crime information to levy payers via the SentrySIS app which is available in both Apple and Android devices. The benefit for end users is that they can receive up to date crime notifications, incidents and information on known offenders in the area - all in real time on their mobile devices.

With the addition of Discover Fulham in the SentrySIS eco-system, secure data sharing options with other Business Improvement Districts using SentrySIS is now easily achievable. This means that crime intelligence can be shared between administrators of each respective platform and be informed of travelling offenders and serious organised crime teams.

Chris Nriapia, Director at SentrySIS commented and said “We are really excited to be working with the team at Discover Fulham and all their local partners. The introduction of SentrySIS into Fulham’s wider crime reduction plans, will not only helps this lively part of London thrive even more, but can further support its regeneration strategic proposals. For those who work and reside in Fulham, can now take comfort knowing that SentrySIS will have a positive impact in the area.”

Once the system is fully rolled out across the Fulham BID area, security staff and workers from restaurants, bars, eateries and cafes will receive regular crime-focused push notifications to their SentrySIS app. Here, they can also search a database of known offenders to help make informed decisions when diverting people away from their premises.

SentrySIS app users also have the ability to search for suspicious vehicles that are connected to low level crime when seen in the area. This intelligence often leads to known offenders with historical details on their past incidents and known associates.

If criminal activity does occur in a levy payer’s premises or venue, details of the incident can be uploaded to the SentrySIS system and shared with other Discover Fulham members. The ability for users to communicate crime intelligence in a secure, GDPR compliant way, helps the BID reach its aims and objectives where strands include reducing low level crime in the vicinity.

Businesses within the Discover Fulham catchment area should contact Joanna Breuer at (Joanna.breuer@fb-bid.co.uk) for more details on how to register for the SentrySIS Scheme.
